This is another manga I'm definitely going to own in the future。 Its hilarious, its heartwarming, and I love it。 It really reminds me of Love is War, another one of my favorites。 This is another one of my favorites of all time。 This is another manga I'm definitely going to own in the future。 Its hilarious, its heartwarming, and I love it。 It really reminds me of Love is War, another one of my favorites。 This is another one of my favorites of all time。 。。。more

Getting a kissWhat does it take to get a kiss from knuckle head jun。 How dense is he is he as dense as Tomo's father? Does she need advice from her mother? Four years later it all comes to an end。 It was such a good manga I hope one day it turns into an anime。 It had all the feels all the comedy and the cutest ending。 Every character got a good ending - thank you to the creator。 Plus side the comments from others reading this was priceless - added so much to the manga commiunity。

I was so happy to get the latest volume of my current favorite manga from the library, but then I was shocked and saddened to see "final volume" on the back cover。 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!All I really needed to see was the inside of the front and back covers to be ecstatic。 The rest of the book was fine -- there was plenty to squee about -- but those two images just sum up the whole series for me。Well, now I'm back on the hunt for a new stupid fun shojo 。 。 。 I was so happy to get the latest volume of my current favorite manga from the library, but then I was shocked and saddened to see "final volume" on the back cover。 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!All I really needed to see was the inside of the front and back covers to be ecstatic。 The rest of the book was fine -- there was plenty to squee about -- but those two images just sum up the whole series for me。Well, now I'm back on the hunt for a new stupid fun shojo 。 。 。 。。。more

More of a 3。5 star rating;A cute and wholesome ending to a cute and short manga series。That said, I am very confused on Misuzu’s behavior regarding Tomo-chan。 I know it was stated in the manga that she was just really opposed to the changing of their relationships along with being left behind, but a part of me feels like there were more romantic feelings involved。 To me, Misuzu seemed secretly in love with Tomo-chan but saw Tomo & Jun’s connection then chose to be the supportive friend。 But then More of a 3。5 star rating;A cute and wholesome ending to a cute and short manga series。That said, I am very confused on Misuzu’s behavior regarding Tomo-chan。 I know it was stated in the manga that she was just really opposed to the changing of their relationships along with being left behind, but a part of me feels like there were more romantic feelings involved。 To me, Misuzu seemed secretly in love with Tomo-chan but saw Tomo & Jun’s connection then chose to be the supportive friend。 But then again this could just be me overthinking along with some wishful thinking。 。。。more

A little long to get to the point, but totally adorable nonetheless。

Okay okay, there are actually some things that annoyed me about this series, the main things being how tomo and jun are so stupid, but that is completely overshadowed by how well these characters are written, as well as the beautiful artwork!!!This manga plays out less like a traditional manga and more like a series of skits with an overlying plot, but I actually really liked that, cause it gave a lot of time to each character even if they weren't the protagonists, and this is really where the m Okay okay, there are actually some things that annoyed me about this series, the main things being how tomo and jun are so stupid, but that is completely overshadowed by how well these characters are written, as well as the beautiful artwork!!!This manga plays out less like a traditional manga and more like a series of skits with an overlying plot, but I actually really liked that, cause it gave a lot of time to each character even if they weren't the protagonists, and this is really where the manga shines。 Even though tomo and jun are dumb as hell sometimes, they have good character development and are just adorable by nature。 This is also a really funny manga。 Like, I laughed ot loud multiple times。 It just has alot of charm to it。 This is something ill probably go back to when I just want to smile or feel good。 The author does a great job at making the reader feel like they're part of the group! 。。。more

Alas, all quirky romantic comedies must come to an end。 In TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL! #8, readers will encounter roughly everything one expects from the wild-eyed and frequently flustered tomboy Tomo as she navigates the final stretch of emotional turbulence regarding her relationship with Junichiro。 Tomo is eager。 Tomo is reticent。 Tomo is worried。 Tomo is ambitious。 Tomo is romantic。 Tomo is overconfident。 Tomo is happy。The only real drama in this manga's closing volume rests in how Misuzu Gundou ma Alas, all quirky romantic comedies must come to an end。 In TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL! #8, readers will encounter roughly everything one expects from the wild-eyed and frequently flustered tomboy Tomo as she navigates the final stretch of emotional turbulence regarding her relationship with Junichiro。 Tomo is eager。 Tomo is reticent。 Tomo is worried。 Tomo is ambitious。 Tomo is romantic。 Tomo is overconfident。 Tomo is happy。The only real drama in this manga's closing volume rests in how Misuzu Gundou makes a conscious effort to resolve her guilt over accidentally convincing Tomo she needed to be someone she is not so as to find true love。 Misuzu's efforts are duly rewarded, but it's worth noting both Tomo and Carol see and recognize the young stoic's efforts merely as another glimpse of a best friend doing what best friends do (meaning well but screwing up)。 Misuzu hates herself。 And yet, absolutely nobody hates Misuzu。 This is the most understated subplot of the whole manga, and it's a damn shame Misuzu herself doesn't find the happiness she longs for ("Love's great。 Even if you cling to someone, cry on them, make a fuss, they'll understand。 I'd like that for me, but 。 。 。 my feelings are incomprehensible。")。 Tanabe, sadly, is again relegated to background-character status。TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL! #8 pulls readers back and forth, between Jun's idiotic attempts to be a more caring male partner and Tomo's bubbly anxiety for how lucky she is to get what she wants out of life。 There's little actual conflict in the way the two teenagers finally gravitate toward one another, but the journey, as expected, is full of awkward pauses, flying fists, and a friendly if somewhat surprisingly heavy-handed intervention from Tomo's parents。Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, however much it bridges or supersedes the yonkoma format, is an exquisite manga。 The characters are highlight inimitable, the writing is consistent, and the author's sense of humor is direct and unequivocal。 It's a fun comic。 Romantic comedies too often forget there's supposed to be humor in romance (as opposed to merely believing relationships can be funny, apart from being romantic)。 Fortunately, Tomo-chan Is a Girl! sets its sights on its characters' awkward ambitions and never gives it a second thought。 。。。more

This was a decent conclusion。 I'm glad this series didn't drag on。 Carol is still my favorite and wish she had more parts in the last volume, but it still made me laugh and I enjoyed it。 It's a ridiculous series and it's be fun to see it animated。 This was a decent conclusion。 I'm glad this series didn't drag on。 Carol is still my favorite and wish she had more parts in the last volume, but it still made me laugh and I enjoyed it。 It's a ridiculous series and it's be fun to see it animated。 。。。more

Great end to a very funny series。 There is still plenty of humor in this volume, but I'd say it's a little less funny than previous volumes as it focuses on story resolution。 Still, I found it very satisfying。 Great end to a very funny series。 There is still plenty of humor in this volume, but I'd say it's a little less funny than previous volumes as it focuses on story resolution。 Still, I found it very satisfying。 。。。more

2020 Read #604It didn’t go out with quite the bang I would have imagined, but the series is overall one I think I will revisit。 Misuzu Gundou needs her own spin-off, stat。

A fitting end to a fun little story。I'm sad that it's over after only 8 volumes。 I really have enjoyed it。 Tomo is my kind of girl。 I like my girls sassy, tough as nails, able to fight, and aren't afraid to get dirty。 Yep, I love Tomboys。 Why? The World may never know。 I was raised & still live in an upper class white-collar world, yet down & dirty blue-collar tough girls are what make me smile。 Love is funny that way。 I'm glad they finally got together, & with the blessing of Tomo's parents。 Ni A fitting end to a fun little story。I'm sad that it's over after only 8 volumes。 I really have enjoyed it。 Tomo is my kind of girl。 I like my girls sassy, tough as nails, able to fight, and aren't afraid to get dirty。 Yep, I love Tomboys。 Why? In which it turns out that Tomo-chan was a girl the entire time。A cute ending for a cute series。 We knew from last volume that Jun had finally decided to pull his head out of his ass, but there are still a couple more obstacles in the way before these two kids kick things up a notch。Just what happens as friends go from being friends to something more? That’s the big query at the heart of this volume and I do give this series a lot of credit for staying very true to itself up to the bitter end。 T In which it turns out that Tomo-chan was a girl the entire time。A cute ending for a cute series。 We knew from last volume that Jun had finally decided to pull his head out of his ass, but there are still a couple more obstacles in the way before these two kids kick things up a notch。Just what happens as friends go from being friends to something more? That’s the big query at the heart of this volume and I do give this series a lot of credit for staying very true to itself up to the bitter end。 There are ways to answer the above question and there are the specific ways these characters would answer this question and the book smartly leans into the latter wholesale, accompanied by some fun bits and a lot of shojo sparkles (one of my favorite runners in this volume is how characters are drawn MUCH cuter than usual when the sparkles are out)。Outside of the last obstacle in Jun’s way, which is a bit silly (and which Tomo rightly berates him for not mentioning), this is a satisfying conclusion with some decent gags, a welcome bonus chapter, and a very on-brand first kiss。I do wish there had been a smidgen more closure。 Make no mistake, your Jun/Tomo needs are being served here, but they weren’t the only people around - Carol and Misuzu have carried the series just as much, if not more。You could argue that Carol got most of her storyline resolved in volume 6 (ironically when Misuzu got very unpalatable), but there’s just so little else BUT Jun/Tomo here。 Given how complex she was, I’d have liked to see more done with Misuzu at the end。 For the rest, I especially missed one last appearance of the gyaru girls who were often hanging out on the periphery of things。3。5 stars, which is pretty much where I would leave this series as a whole。 It was fairly amusing and had some very funny moments but was far from perfect。 Rounding down this time because of a couple story issues, plus the fact that it’s simply not as consistently humorous as the last volume。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Read all 8 volumes in one sitting if that tells you anything about how much I loved it! All the characters are so well developed and compliment each other so well。 I genuinely laughed out loud for some parts。 Tomo, Misuzu, and Carol are friendship goals。 A feel good, adorable friends to lovers story that I’ll definitely read again!

This manga just hit the spot for me。 It was hilarious, cute and had an important friendship aspect (I mean, I still think Misuzu and Tomo are goals so。。。) 。 Plus, I think all characters were well developed in the curse of the story and I was able to connect with their feelings and sometimes even identify with them。

Noooo it's over?!!! I want to read more about Misuzu-chan, Tomo, Carol and even Jun and karate senpai。 Ah, I love these characters so much, and it's been such a great ride。The dynamic of the characters are so good。 I especially loved how the girl trio evolved。 And if love to see them make this series into a tv show or a movie, but the acting had better be excellent haha Noooo it's over?!!! You'll love this if typical shojou manga tropes are what you're into。 This is about a teen girl who loves competition, fighting, sports, and other things of the sort。 She's very pretty but because of the way she dresses and her personality she's often confused for a guy。 🤷‍♀️ she also happens to have a crush on her guy best friend。 She confesses and it kind of back fires。 Not giving up after her failed attempt she vows to make her bff see her as a woman!I like the main female lead。 I had a crus You'll love this if typical shojou manga tropes are what you're into。 This is about a teen girl who loves competition, fighting, sports, and other things of the sort。 She's very pretty but because of the way she dresses and her personality she's often confused for a guy。 🤷‍♀️ she also happens to have a crush on her guy best friend。 She confesses and it kind of back fires。 Not giving up after her failed attempt she vows to make her bff see her as a woman!I like the main female lead。 I had a crush on her by the end of this series。 I would have probably given this a higher rating if the main guy wasn't so dense。 Or if one of my most hated shojou manga tropes wasn't used。 (The accidental kiss\boob grab\PDA with another random girl that isn't the main girl happens。 🙄) Or if more of the actual relationship was explored and not just the getting there part。 。。。more

Wow! What a great series!I finally got around to reading Tomo-Chan is a girl, and plowed through the entire series on my manga-reader app。 So glad that I did。 This book was funny, ridiculous, and so full of heart。 It made me smile, laugh, and even get a little nervous。 Instead of just writing a straight romance, there were so many little subplots mixed in, and all of the background characters were interesting and funny。 There were lots of plot twists and little surprises that I didn't see coming Wow! Why did I binge these within less than a week。Oh yeah i wanted to make fun of Faiz for having a crush on Tomo but now I have a crush on her too。 You know, this manga was surprisingly gay for having a straight ship and Im really not complaining。
